I'm Finally Here....

Sister Sloan traveled the long distance, of about 45 minutes, from the MTC to her mission--Temple Square-- in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is thrilled to finally be out on her mission and is so excited to begin teaching the gospel to those who travel from all over the world.

Here are a couple of pictures of she and her Zone Leader (from Alberta) and then she and her mission president and his wife:

Be Prepared, I'll be coming home 'different'.....

We just received another letter from Sister Sloan today. She seems to be really enjoying her time at the MTC. Here is a little piece of her letter:

"So, so much is happening here and the time is counting down!!! So, guess what? Elder Holland spoke to us last night. His talk was great! One thing I learned is that it's ok to say the word 'stupid' at the pulpit as he said it at least 10 times. But, the one thing that he really spoke about was that none of us should go home the same person we are when we came out into the field. So, be prepared...when I get home I'm going to be different! Oh, I also convinced my companion to join the choir because I wanted to be on the big screen. Some of the Elders in my district knew I was super excited about it and so they were counting how many times I appeared on the screen and they said they saw me 6 times. Yes!!! haha. It was a good hymn "Come Thou Fount" but with a slightly different arrangement. I 'faked' singing half of it 'cause the notes were so high, but it was fun anyways.' This past week I have been trying to teach my district O Canada. Some of them are doing really well and will randomly start singing it during class. The words are right but the tune is off. Last Sunday, I gave a talk. I didn't really prepare very well. It was on faith in Jesus Christ so I told a story and then tried to relate it to faith. It was pretty interesting. People told me that it was really good but I can't figure out if it's just because it was super bad and they felt sorry for me or if it really was good. Haha. Anyways, I LOVE YOU ALL. Thanks for the letters. I love getting them. Oh, please tell the Wotherspoons that the chocolate was amazing!! Thank them so much. I already finished it.
LOVE YOU!!!! Sister Sloan"

Sister Sloan LOVES the MTC!!

I'm a week late in posting Sister Sloan's first letter from the MTC. Here's a piece of it:

"So, guess what? I LOVE the MTC!!! It is AWESOME!! The spirit is super strong here. My companion, Sister Bowden, is from England. She is 26 and pretty cool. I feel bad for her, though, because I keep asking her to say 'Harry Potter' and I'm always trying to speak in an English accent. I wake up every morning at 5:30 to work out at 6:00am with some other sisters. It's pretty intense and I get a little tired during the day, but then, I also feel really hyper and happy. it is so weird. My district is awesome. They each have such good insights to the gospel and different scriptures and they are all really funny. I have been learning alot from my teachers and from teaching lessons. It's fun, but, also difficult to teach and try to answer investigator's questions, but I am improving slowly. I saw Sister Pool and she is in my Branch, which is fun. All of the sisters in the branch are very nice. Oh, I also saw Elder Udani and I have a pic with him and a Sister from Switzerland who is a good friend of Elder Muller's. She found me after an early morning 'sister' workout. She is going to temple square as well, but I don't see much of her, though. So, one of the Sisters in my room, Sister Whaley, taught me how to do a hand stand in the doorway. It's so much fun! So, now I'm trying to have a competition with another sister, Sister Watson on who can do a handstand the longest. She is winning so far with 1 minute 30 seconds. I am only at .45 seconds. You'll be happy to know that I'm eating lots of salads and fruits and vegetables. I started off always having chocolate milk with my meals but it started making me sick, so I'm not doing that anymore. Today, it was kind of weird to see all of the new Elders and Sisters coming in. I can't believe I have been here for a week already. The phrase, 'days are long, weeks are short' is so true. I am SO happy to be here. I went to the Temple today. It was soo different from ours. I love our temple, but, anyways, I was so excited to go. I loved it. Love you all. Sister Sloan
